This Term
MUMS returns from the Easter Break with a programme as packed as ever, leading up to ESTIVAL 2010; Manchester's biggest student classical music festival!
Following last year's huge success at The Bridgewater Hall, this May the Symphony and Chorus Concert returns to the Whitworth Hall with a performance of Janacek’s Glagolitic Mass. Janacek makes a further appearance in Estival where his awe-inspiring Sinfonietta (complete with 12 trumpets) closes the final concert. Indeed, Czech composers play a prominent role in Estival this year as we commemorate the 50th anniversary of the death of Martinu – a year late. Add to this Big Band, Brass Band and Wind Orchestra and even a tent at Pangaea (the official end-of-year party run by the Manchester University Student's Union), and surely there is something for everyone this term at the Martin Harris Centre.
