Tchaikovsky's sublime Serenade for Strings preceded by a variety of Baroque masterpieces from the University of Manchester Baroque Orchestra will make for a perfect opening to Estival 2011.

Having already performed this Mozart masterpiece this year, so great was the reception that a repeat performance will be given in this year's Estival. Soloist's Fred Taylor and Robin Weil join Mark Heron and the University of Manchester Chamber Orchestra in what promises to be a top class performance.

Manchester University Big Band present another array of high quality big band charts from masters of the genre like Nestico and Basie.


This concert will operate an open doors policy, with the Estival bar open throughout the concert so guests can bring drinks in and out of the hall as they please.
