Estival is back!

Now in its 33rd year, Estival is Manchester’s biggest student arts festival running over four days in June. Meaning ‘pertaining or appropriate to summer’, Estival is primarily a showcase for the city’s most talented young musicians, who will present young and fresh interpretations of masterpieces ranging from the Renaissance to the 21st century, soul to the avant-garde.

This year's festival follows a Russian theme, so will feature composition giants like Shostakovich, Tchaikovsky, Stravinsky and Mussorgsky. Estival 2011 culminates in a performance by the University of Manchester Symphony Orchestra of Shostakovich's incredible Fifth Symphony, Glazunov's Violin Concerto, and Mussorgsky's Night on a Bare Mountain (Thursday evening).

The iconic Estival bar also returns, its 2nd year in existence, serving a range of alcohols, soft drinks, and refreshments between performances.

Opening Hours:
12noon-2.30pm
4pm-interval of evening concert (c. 8.30pm)
