MUMS Membership

The Music Society is one of largest and most active societies in the Students' Union at Manchester. Each year the society signs up approximately 500 members from every corner of the University - undergraduate, postgraduate and staff. MUMS is not just a society for music students, and we welcome and encourage members to join from all areas of study.

Reasons to Join
  • Free entry to all music society concerts in the Cosmo Rodewald Concert Hall
  • Discounted entrance fees to other music society performances
  • Access to the new Jabez Clegg 25% Discount Card which is exclusive to MUMS members.
  • Access to the many active ensembles within the society
  • Ability to register as an instrumental/music theory teacher
  • Ability to sign up to the lunchtime concert series (an excellent solo or ensemble performance opportunity!)
  • Access to the basement practice rooms (only available to staff and students at the University of Manchester)
  • Access to the music teacher database
  • Invitation to all the society socials - for which there are many.

How do I Join?

During Welcome Week the Music Society will have a stall at the Students' Fair in the Students' Union, where you can become a member and speak to Committee Members about the society and opportunities available to you.

To join the society at another point in the year, just email secretary@mumusicsociety.co.uk.

How Much?

For all students studying in the city of Manchester membership is £15. For those studying elsewhere or who are non-students, membership is £25, but we are limited to the number the society is allowed due to Students' Union regulations. Membership is valid from the date you join to the end of July of that academic year.
